Cold, cut-up, and dirty—my first Spartan Sprint is in the books!! 5km and 15 obstacles later…

(The only reason I look remotely un-muddy is because the sky was unleashing monsoon-worthy rain for the last half of the track.)

It was really exhausting but a lot of fun. It also informed me, rather unapologetically, that I need to start training a helluva lot harder for Tough Mudder in August.

That was my first run since my marathon.

Aka about a month off. 33 degrees (feels like 40) celsius. 

7km…that was not so fun. My rhythm was off, muscles felt weak, I couldn’t breathe properly, and I was legit hot mess territory.

Just felt like logging this feeling so in the future I don’t let enough time go by that I’m back here again.

World of hurt today.

Went to Crossfit yesterday, and my box was having their official Grand Opening. There was no regular class, just a bunch of WODS. We went to the 2 pm WOD, which was as follows:

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 of:

  • Pullups
  • Burpees

And in between every set was 5 deadlifts.

12 minute time cap.

I. Died.

So frustrating—the burpees and deadlifts were fine. But the pullups? My arms literally shut down. They didn’t hurt. They weren’t tired. They just wouldn’t work!!! My coach literally grabbed my hips and was helping me up for the last few, but that didn’t make me feel any better!

He says they’ll get better the more I do, but damn. I was so mad at my body. Just once I’d like to be able to Rx a WOD and kill it—if it weren’t for the pullups, I could have yesterday!

Today I woke up and ran 20km. I’m really surprised I made it, considering I can’t lift my arms above my head. But here we are. Can’t wait to get better at Crossfit.

But I need a break. Heading back to dance tomorrow night :) Can’t decide if I”m in a contemporary mood or feel like some filthy hip hop. Game-time decision.

And imagine that, I feel so much better! Not sure if it’s the endorphins or the fact that it’s short-shorts weather but either way I’ll take it!

GPOY—look, Crossfit is giving me my muscles back!!! AND I’m almost back to my pre-trip around the world weight. Which also means I’m almost ineligible to donate blood once again. (Sorry folks, I’d rather be skinny.) Hope you like my short shorts.

About to go run 18km.

if I don’t post later today, It probably means I fell down a ravine in High Park. Send help.

Just knocked out a little 6k run to start my day off. Now the day of awesome begins! (don’t want to talk about it yet. But good things are about to happen!)

Hint: it involves the ROM, an undisclosed location, and a Second City show. Guesses welcome.

Since I am running a half marathon in exactly one month, I thought I’d post a helpful video regarding form.

I did 12km of Hill Training last night.

That’s 18 hills. In a row. I never walked once.

Half marathon May 6? Piece of cake.

My training says so.

I just ran 16km.

In 1 hour and 48 minutes.

The previous record for furthest run was 7 km. I more than doubled it in one go. Probably not the smartest idea, and I’ll hurt tomorrow, but FUCK YEAH! I’m so proud of myself for pushing and having my first run back after bronchitis be such an accomplishment.

No Irish Yoga for me tonight…

Because I have 16km to run along the lakeshore at 8:30 am tomorrow. Smart choice not to celebrate St. Patty’s, but I’m not any less scared for this run.

…the furthest I’ve ran so far? 8km. Let’s hope I can double it after taking a few weeks OFF completely.

Fingers crossed my legs keep going…it’s gonna feel great to complete but right now seems beyond daunting!
