Got new kicks today.
Pretty sure this takes the sneaker count to 12 pairs. But these are my first pair of strictly runners. I went to a special store and they told me what kind of gait I have (after making fun of me for wearing Nike Shox for running), and then I tried on a whole bunch of shoes without looking at the brand, colour, or price (weird, unheard of, weirder). Eventually I settled on the first pair I tried on, the Asic Gel Cumulus 13s. They’re ugly and I’d never pick them off the shelf, but apparently they are magic because I literally feel like I’m walking on a cloud.
The manager at the store also persuaded me to join one of the training groups to help me get started—I don’t know how to train for something. In the past, whenever I wanted to run, I just went as far and as fast as I could. Period. The end. The furthest I’ve run in one shot is about 5.5km.
This leads me to getting up and running 7km outside in the middle of winter at 8:30 am on a Sunday. WHO AM I?!?!
